10 items I'd bid on if we had room in our apartment pt. 2
ft. a perfect Knoll chair gifted to a longtime employee

There are fewer things I regret more than not bidding on this Irina Zaytceva Teapot. Zaytceva’s ceramics are so steeply priced (though there is a very cool mug listed for $250 on Ebay), I was convinced if I actually bid on it I’d be stuck in a bidding war and a) lose or b) WIN with a sticker shock I’d quickly regret. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve won an auction and wished I hadn’t. Instead, I’m stuck living with c) REGRETS. Sure, it wouldn’t do any favors for my growing credit card debt (more on that soon), but really… I believe this weird little teapot could have finally filled the hollow space consumerism keeps trying (and failing) to satisfy:
See what I mean?
This is how I pass my time—scouring actions (I’m currently stuck jury duty doing just that).
The last piece I won in an auction was this Double Figural Clothing Rack from PUBLIC SALE in Hudson, New York. That is one auction I regret bidding in (though I LOVE Public Sale & the folks who work there). I had zero plan on how to retrieve this thing & ended up having to lug it home on the Amtrak. We also have no room for it at home lol.

Despite my compulsive home goods habits that have turned our small apartment into a storage unit, I’m happy to say Aaron still loves me. That said, to deter me from digging myself into more debt—here’s everything I’d buy right now if we had space.

Sevres Pink Ground Porcelain Lamps (2) - $100 starting bid
These gorgeous lamps come from the late 19th century. I think they would look absolutely incredible in a space blending styles from different periods/influences. I’m realllllly considering these… but as promised, if one of you claims them I won’t bid! I will say, considering what similar items are going for on 1stDibs, these might shoot up in price.
Frank Gehry "Hat Trick" Chair for Knoll #1 - $195 stating price
Fun fact: The design for this furniture collect from Frank Gehry was inspired by the look of bushel baskets, ushering in a new line of bentwood furniture (one of my personal favorite categories!). According to Knoll’s site, following 3 years of prototyping and design, the collection was launched in the Frank Gehry: New Furniture Prototypes show at MoMA in 1992. Pretty cool imo. You can still purchase this chair new, but it retails for $2,180 (and that's on sale…!).
Mirrored Room Divider - $200 starting price
When I lived in a studio, I wanted nothing more than to have a funky, functional room divider. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough space for that. Maybe you do? This would also make a really cool headboard behind simple a queen bed.
Karen Barone Platter c. 1997: In Preview
This platter is cool. This one going on Etsy for $50 might be cooler…
Paul McCobb Blonde Wood Dresser - $150 current bid
Usually, I’m not a fan of hairpin legs. In furniture designed today, I always feel like they look like a cheap addition to try and recreate a midcentury look. Of course, from one of the most notable figures in MCM design, it looks right.

"Designer Cubes" Modular Storage System by Safco (c. 1970s) - $9 starting price
If you appreciate having original packaging, these are for you. They’d also be extremely easy to move around. The photos in the listing make it look like the blocks are falling apart (or am I crazy?) but apparently they’re in excellent condition!
Maitland Smith Monkey Candleholders - $50 starting price
Adorable and probably necessary.
Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin Armchairs (6) - $100 current bid
Apparently these are in terrible condition, but if they keep at a low price they’d be well worth it to get reupholstered—or if you’re more crafty than me—to reupholster yourself. The metal framing is largely in good condition, and really is a classic. And for six chairs? A steal. (These get expensive.)
John Risley Style Metal Face Outdoor Chairs - $225 stating price
If I had an outdoor space, these would be my very first purchase.
Vintage Wassily Style Rocking Chair - $155 starting price
Some might argue The Wassily is overdone—I don’t agree, it’s a classic! But the amount of dupes on the market right now do reflect its demand. This is a really cool alternative, but it needs a lot of love.
Honorable Mention: Yes, This Is A Dog Bed, it sold but I needed to include it.
If our dog weren’t a 50 lb Pitbull I’d be getting this ASAP. I think it’d be fun to reupholster with a different fabric, but it’s also perfect as is.
