I know I’m late to this trend but this short list was actually a lot harder to write than I had anticipated! I think I did most of my apartment shopping at the end of 2021, and (believe it or not) I’m not someone who likes to make big changes in my apartment often! But, after, a lot of thinking 🎶 here are a few of my favorite things 🎶 I purchased in 2022.
Two Plia Chairs off Facebook marketplace - $$ depends!
Living in a studio has made me appreciate the little things (folding chairs). These Pila Chairs double as a shockingly comfortable place to sit and whatever the opposite of an eyesore is. My point: a fashionable folding chair is a great secondhand find.
Bialetti Moka - $55.00
I’ve been trying to decide what espresso maker to get for a while. My mom has been using a Moka Pot for as long as I can remember, and while it doesn’t technically make espresso shots, it’s good for nostalgia & a quick and delicious (almost) cappuccino.
Electric Milk Frother - $29.99
…And what better way to handle the milk?
White Platform Crocs - $59.99
These don’t technically count as a home good, but I wear them an equal amount in and outdoors…they must make the list.
Tarta Gelatina Rug - $$ depends!
I don’t think my rug is for sale anymore, but pictured above is another one I love. My rug is a similar size/shape. Originally I wanted to keep it in my kitchen as a runner, but it was too cute to live in a highly trafficked area so it now resides in my reading nook. The perfect size for a small space.
CDG2 Candle - $45.00
I’ve been thinking about getting this candle for a few years and I was hesitant without ever having smelled it. Finally, this year when it went on sale at SSENSE, I went for it. The verdict: it smells amazing. It’s a bit smaller than what I’m used to at this price point, but I do not regret it.
Jono Pandolfi Plates - $$ depends!
I went to Jono Pandolfi’s 2022 Holiday Seconds Sale and my only regret is that I did not buy more table settings (I got four dinner plates). Even if you haven’t heard of this ceramicist, you may recognize his work from literally every fancy restaurant ever. Their next sale is Friday, February 3rd in Union City, NJ…see you there!?
Set of Three Lidded No-Slip Mixing Bowls - $45
I have an Italic membership (this is not sponsored I just love this site), so these came out to $11.95 including shipping. IMO they are great quality for the price, even without the deal.
Framed artwork from LACMA - $250.00
I saw this piece, a yellow Stuart Davis painting, on my last trip to the LACMA and loved it, so I was jazzed when I realized I could order a framed print and get it delivered right to my door from a small kiosk in the gift shop. I picked out a 26” x 29” print in a Hudson Gold Scoop frame. For $250 (including shipping) it was not a small price to pay, but it’s one of my favorite things on my wall.
The Sixpenny Neva Sofa - $$ depends!
This is far and away the most expensive thing I own, but I barely needed to buy any additional furniture when I moved to my new apartment so I was able to justify this purchase. The best way I can describe how comfortable I find this couch is: when my boyfriend’s dog had an accident on my mattress and I had to let it air out for a day, I decided to sleep on the couch for two additional days because it was the best sleep I’d gotten in a while. Does this just mean my mattress sucks? Perhaps, but I’d bet on the comfort of the couch…I love it.
Those Plia chairs were such a great find! I have black plastic folding chairs that are not cute, but serve the purpose when I have people over.
